Raise It Up!

#ArtsForAll is the mission of Upturn Arts. Our teaching philosophy focuses on individual creativity and the uniqueness of every young artist. This creates a safe space for expression, self-discovery, and oftentimes healing. We have launched this campaign to raise funds to support our programs, especially our partnership with Whole Village Art Therapy. This past summer, our young artists and staff received over 300 hours of support from art therapists both in and out of the classroom. Thirty-six young artists directly benefitted from this new partnership, five of which would not have been to attend our summer camp without this resource.

Our goal is to raise $12,000 in 12 days through Facebook fundraising. This will allow us to have a registered art therapist onsite for all holiday camps during the 2019-2020 school year!

In an effort to reach our goal, Upturn Arts is partnering with the Brett Thomas Doussan Foundation, an organization that raises mental health awareness through advocacy, education, and music. For every share this campaign receives using the hashtag #WholeArtWholeHeart, the Brett Thomas Doussan Foundation will donate $1* towards our goal.

To celebrate the end of this campaign, Upturn Arts will be hosting a Back To School Bash on #LiveCreativeDay — Saturday, September 14th from 6:00-9:00 pm at Nola Spaces in Central City. Please join us for a family-friendly evening of dance, music, and food, with special guest Big Freedia, founder of Bounce UP, a charitable organization that supports local programs that directly improve the well-being of children in New Orleans.

*Up to 500 shares, or $500.
