DANA REED  | EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR  | DANCEA New Design

Dana M. Reed is the Executive Director of Upturn Arts, an organization she founded in New Orleans 2010 as an offshoot of Hope Stone-Houston, and which operated under that name until 2015.   She graduated with honors from the University of Southern Mississippi with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance Education (2003). Her professional career has been dedicated to dance, as evidenced by her work as a master dance educator with notable worldwide institutions, including her long tenure as Director of the Youth Arts Program at Bates Dance Festival in Lewiston, Maine (2001-2014), Nightingale Bamford School in New York City (2006-2009), Cikal School in Jakarta, Indonesia (2008), and Tulane University in New Orleans (2012).  Among Ms. Reed’s honors are being named “One of the Top Ten to Watch” (2013) by New Orleans Magazine, and “Cultural Ambassador of New Orleans” (2012) by Ashe Cultural Arts Center. She also was awarded performance residencies from the French Market Corporation (2013); the Marigny Opera House, and Southern Voices, New Orleans (2012); Chen Dance Center, New York City (2009); and, artistic residency at the Bali Purnati Center for the Arts in Indonesia (2008 and 2013).  Dana Reed’s dynamism and the progress of Upturn Arts also was acknowledged by Propeller, the New Orleans social entrepreneurship hub, when she was accepted into their 2015 Propeller Accelerator Start-Up, limited to 30 community leaders.

Alli Scott Craig, a Cleveland, OH native, studied Psychology and Dance Pedagogy at Point Park University in Pittsburgh. She spent six years touring internationally as a magician’s’ assistant with Brett Daniels, Kirby VanBurch, Rob Lake, and Ben Blaque, before moving to New Orleans. She has worked with numerous nonprofits, including Make-A-Wish Foundation, Court Appointed Special Advocates, and Second Harvest Food Bank, as a fundraising event planner, marketing coordinator, and development director. In 2013, she co-founded ‘WEEN DREAM, a locally-based nonprofit that gives Halloween costumes to kids in need across the country. She is also a certified fitness instructor in mat Pilates, TRX, and Pure Barre, and the creator of 6 Minute Fitness, a low impact workout for people diagnosed with Pulmonary Hypertension. Alli has worn many hats with Upturn Arts including dance teacher and a member of both the re-branding committee and board of directors before taking on the role as Program Director in April 2016. 


trevor wisdom  |  grant writer

Trevor Wisdom is a published author with over thirty years experience in project management, marketing, communications strategies and public relations. She is a 7th generation New Orleanian and graduate of Tulane University in New Orleans. Trevor has been actively involved in the performing arts since childhood, playing many stage roles, and studied classical voice in Athens, Greece and the University of Texas in Austin. 

Being raised in a philanthropic family, volunteerism and non-profit development have played an important part of Ms. Wisdom’s life. Her community involvement has included serving on the Board of Directors of the Junior League of Napa-Sonoma and Upturn Arts, and on committees for the United Way, New Orleans Opera Association, Newcomb Alumni Association, Newcomb Town Mom Program, and Academy of the Sacred Heart Mother’s Club, among others. As a single mother, Ms. Wisdom recognizes the importance of Upturn Arts’ programs in meeting the creative needs of local children in a safe environment and fostering their self-expression.
