If it’s Thanksgiving time, you already know at Upturn Arts it could only mean one thing… it’s Twerksgiving, y’all! Using the style of Southern Hip-Hop and Bounce music to access inner confidence, young artists learn how to command the space and express themselves to the world. Music classes will explore new ways to communicate and capture emotion through sound and movement. Special effects design and visual arts classes also blend related elements of the local culture. Guest artists from the community, drag queen Laveau Contraire and Bounce legend Big Freedia will bring even more flair to the week and help encourage our Young Artists to proudly be their wonderful, creative selves.
