When Mardi Gras blues start to hit, we keep the fun going at Upturn Arts!

As the festivities wind down, our ongoing programs in dance, music, theater, and visual arts carry the celebration forward, delving into New Orleans’ vibrant cultural heritage and celebrating the unique voices within every student. Young artists will discover their personal visions of community and express themselves with confidence and creativity. Come along on this inspiring artistic journey!

Tween Curriculum

– Digital Pop Art Portraits with Max Townsend: Students will digitally alter selfies into a colorful Pop Art portrait. Using a grid, they will translate their digital design onto illustration board to color and decorate their stylized self-portrait.

– Makeup Artistry with Sabrina Blunt: Explore the crossover of art and makeup design through Pop Art face charts. Students will learn how to exaggerate facial features, use bold color palettes, and create expressive portraits inspired by Pop Art styles.
