Adult and Family Community Classes
Upturn Arts Adult and Family Based community classes are taught by our teaching artists weekly or as featured workshops.
THEME: Movement to improve mental health
WHEN: Mar 1 – Apr 30 (drop-in classes) | Every Mon (5:00-6:00 pm) and Wed (9:00-10:00 am)
AGE GROUPS: 18+
DESCRIPTION:
This class focuses on meditation, stretching and core strengthing in a relaxing space to refocus your mind and move your body. The class begins with meditation, affirmations and guided breathing techniques. It slowly moves through yoga inspired stretches and ends with Pilates core strengthening exercises. The class concludes with an inspiring quote to leave you feeling rejuvenated and focused.
Mindful Movement is taught by our executive director, Dana Reed, who is BASI Pilates-certified and has over 20 years experience teaching dance and movement. This class was inspired by her completion of the New Orleans Youth Alliance’s Wellness Workshop series.
**Note to Parents** Monday classes are taught during our drop-in Spring Afterschool Visual Arts program. This will allow you to take some quiet time to yourself while your young artist is getting creative in the room next door. Both classes are drop-in and donation-based.
